The purpose of these transit meetings was to gather input from the community about challenges and solutions regarding public transit use in the city. The input gathered during the working group meetings has helped to develop policies and projects that will make Milwaukie a more transit-friendly city.

The meetings focused on the following (outcomes of all meetings are posted under "Notes" below):

Meeting #1 (April 7, 2007): Establish the Context and Review Where We've Been

Accomplishments: 

• Understand where Milwaukie fits in the regional transit network 

• Understand how the TSP fits together with ongoing light rail planning 

• Grade the City and TriMet's performance in implementing transit goals 

• Review existing transit policies and existing conditions

Meeting #2 (May 10, 2007): Inventory the Existing Conditions and Begin Preparing for the Future

Accomplishments:

• Review how TriMet bus service operates in Milwaukie today

• Review the state of the infrastructure that supports transit use, like sidewalks and shelters

• Review ridership statistics in Milwaukie

• Learn about TriMet's plans for service enhancements

• Begin building the "What Needs Improving?" inventory of possible enhancements

Meeting #3 (May 29, 2007): "Envisioning Milwaukie": Identify how transit can support, and be supported by, a future vision for the city.

Accomplishments:

• Continue building the "What Needs Improving?" inventory of possible enhancements

• Review projected population and travel growth, and related transit service needs

• Focus on new east-west service routes and enhancements

• Focus on relationship between transit usage and bike need

Meeting #4 (June 20, 2007): Putting It All Together: Finalize Transit Solutions for Milwaukie's Future

Accomplishments:

• Finalize the Working Groups' recommended policy, capital, and service improvements for transit service

• Review updated research from TriMet for new east-west bus service in Milwaukie

• Final check on TSP/Comprehensive Plan transit policies
