The Building
Department is charged with ensuring that new buildings and structures are
built consistent with state and federal building codes. |
| City
Recorder |
The City Recorder's Office has the
primary function to record, store and disseminate public meeting minutes,
arrange public meetings, oversee public contracting and purchasing and
organize City elections. This department also oversees the City's
Risk Management function. |

City Manager
|
The Office of the City Manager is responsible for taking charge of the daily
supervision of City affairs.
|

Community Development
|
The Community Development Administration area oversees the following
functions: Administration, Planning, Building Inspection, Engineering,
Streets, Water, Sewer, Stormwater, Fleet Services, Fleet Reserve,
Facility Maintenance and Public Parking Facilities.

Community Services
|
Community Services focuses on increasing, improving and facilitating
communication between the City and its residents. The office helps the city
improve the quality of service delivery by linking residents with service
providers; conveying community needs and desires to elected and appointed
officials; by facilitating public participation in policy development; and
by supporting Neighborhood leadership and the organizational development of
the City's Neighborhood Associations.
The Code Compliance Division is responsible for neighborhood preservation,
code compliance and nuisance abatement.

Engineering |
The Engineering Department is involved in many issues related to the public
works improvements that exist within the City and that are necessary to be
added. These range from helping citizens locate sewer and water lines near
their homes to the design and supervision of major street improvement
projects.

Finance |
Accounting
Department was created to provide financial management of the city’s
budget, cash control and annual financial reporting. The Department
also administers the Special Assessments, Business Licenses, Utility
Billing, Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. |

Fleet and Facilities |
The Fleet and Facilities Division is responsible for Fleet Services, the
Fleet-Reserve Future Capital Expense, Facilities Maintenance, and the
city’s Public Parking Facilities.

Fire |
The City currently contracts its fire services with Clackamas County Fire
District #1 (CCFD1). This link will take you to their website.

Human Resources |
The Human Resources Department partners with its customers to enhance the
efficiency and effectiveness of the organization while providing quality
customer service in a manner that promotes mutual respect.

Information Systems & Technology |
The Information Systems and Technology Department (IST) serves the data,
networking and voice needs of City staff and associated agencies. Its
mission is to provide an efficient and well-coordinated computing and voice
environment through local and wide area network systems; personal computer
systems; cost effective software selection and licensing; and the use of
shared peripheral devices on the network.

Library |
The Ledding Library of Milwaukie serves the people of Milwaukie by providing
materials and services that meet their informational, cultural and
recreational needs. The library has books, compact discs, videos, DVD's,
computer software, books on tape, newspapers and magazines all available to
the people of our community.

Municipal Court |
As stated in Milwaukie Charter Section 28 "The municipal court has
original jurisdiction of all offenses defined and made punishable by
ordinances of the city and of all actions brought to recover or enforce
forfeitures or penalties defined or authorized by any ordinance of the
city." The Milwaukie Municipal Court handles cases related to
traffic, parking citations and code enforcement violations such as zoning
and nuisances.

Planning |
The Planning Department is involved in issues relating to growth and
development in the City of Milwaukie. These range from implementing
existing zoning regulations to assisting the City Council in establishing
land use and growth planning policy for the City.

Police |
The Milwaukie Police Department is a full service Law Enforcement
organization that has been dedicated to the citizens of the City of
Milwaukie, in one form or another, since it’s inception in the year 1903.
The Department evolves through constant introspection, Citizen input, and
City Council direction and is constantly examining the processes in order to
find a way to “do it better”.

Wastewater |
The Wastewater Division continues regular sewer line cleaning and inspection and
uses information from inspections for on the spot pipe rehabilitation to
minimize sewer back-ups, ongoing analysis of the sewer system
components and capital needs assessment.

Stormwater |
The Stormwater division ensures that the City complies with the National
Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. The division
monitors pollutants in surface water. The division also repairs,
cleans and maintains over 1,600 catch basins, 654 manholes, 198 drywells and
approximately (37 miles) 195,360 feet of pipes and ditches.

Streets |
Milwaukie’s Streets Division maintains 150 lane miles of roadway and right
of way, seven traffic signals, 3750 regulatory, warning and informational
signs, 546 legends and 44 lane miles of pavement striping. The division also
sweeps all curbed streets and bike paths on an eight-day cycle and removes
illegal signs in the right of way. Lastly, the division fabricates signs,
repairs pot holes and sweeps curbed streets for the City of Happy Valley
upon request.

Water |
The Water Division is responsible for the supply and distribution of
drinking water. It serves approximately 6,500 residential and
commercial customers. The system comprised of 100 miles of water
lines, 3 storage reservoirs, 7 wells, 2 pressure boosting stations, and 2
treatment plants. They comply with all State and Federal
regulations. The City contracts with Clackamas River Water District
for additional water supplies.
