What
is the NTMP? Concerned about speeding in residential areas? The City of Milwaukie has
developed a Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP). This program is
a
partnership between neighbors and City service providers to preserve the safety of our communities. By working together, we can send the message that speeding
will not be tolerated and that responsible, safe, courteous driving is expected
in Milwaukie.
What
does the NTMP do?
The intent of the program is to use the three E's--Education,
Enforcement, and Engineering--to solve problems in the most timely and least
expensive manner possible. This approach ensures that every dollar devoted to
traffic management has been carefully spent. At each step in the NTMP process,
the City evaluates the progress of the methods used in order to determine if
further action is required. The program is cumulative. This means that education
and enforcement must be conducted before engineering options (the most expensive
solution) will be considered.
If you have questions about the NTMP or wish to report a traffic concern,
please contact the City's Engineering Department at 503-786-7606 or engineering@ci.milwaukie.or.us.
