Child Advocates, Inc. - or the CASA program of Clackamas County - is seeking volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) to speak for abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. CASAs are trained citizens appointed by a judge to advocate for children who, through no fault of their own, have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions. Advocates receive training in courtroom procedures, the social service and juvenile court systems, and the special needs of children who have been abused and neglected. Child Advocates, Inc. offers an information session the first Wednesday of every month from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at 421 High Street, Suite 100 (The Promenade Building), Oregon City.

For more information, call 503-723-0521 or visit our website at www.casa-cc.org .

Volunteer at the Ledding Library

Volunteer Coordinator:  Grady Wheeler,
Tel: 503-786-7503,
E-mail:  wheelerg@ci.milwaukie.or.us.

Would you like to spend time with a great group of fun-loving people and help your community at the same time? If so, it sounds as if you would be a great volunteer.

The Ledding Library is always in need of volunteer help -- especially the Adult Department. In the adult section of the library, volunteers shelve library materials, repair books, telephone people with overdue items and shelf read -- that's the library's term for making sure that the materials on the shelves are in order. A few volunteers are needed in the Children's Library as well. Children's Library volunteers help prepare for craft projects, and do shelving and shelf reading. Many of our volunteers work one hour per week -- others work ten or more. Any amount of volunteer work is appreciated by the library staff and the citizens of Milwaukie. To show our appreciation of our volunteers' hard work, the Friends of the Ledding Library puts on a delicious brunch for volunteers every year in the spring.

To find out more about volunteering in the Adult Library, call Nancy Wittig at 503-786-7582. To volunteer in the Children's Library, contact Jana Hoffman at 503-786-7585.
