City Celebrates Next Step of Downtown Redevelopment
![]()
To celebrate yet another step in the redevelopment of Milwaukie's Downtown, a brief ceremony is to be held at the old Texaco station on McLoughlin Blvd. right before contractors begin their demolition of the site at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18th.
The site will be the future home of a mixed use development that will likely feature retail on the ground floor and housing on the upper floors that will provide magnificent views of the Willamette River and Elk Rock Island.
Mayor James Bernard, Metro Councilor Brian Newman and the Olsen brothers, the former owners of the site, are all scheduled to attend and all will be invited to take a couple whacks at the structure with the City's famous golden sledge hammers.
Light refreshments will be provided. For those with questions, please call 503.786.7503.
