Based on the community’s suggestion, the Milwaukie Arts Committee was created and appointed by Milwaukie City Council in the spring of 2008. The ten-person committee quickly adopted the name “artMOB”.

City of Milwaukie Opens Call for Art Murals!
As yet another signal that Milwaukie actively supports the arts, City Council unanimously adopted Title 20 at its June 3, 2014 meeting to establish pathways for artists to create murals in Milwaukie.
Title 20 – Public Art, includes language that defines two options for permitting murals in Milwaukie and exempts them from the City's sign regulations.

Milwaukie celebrated the grand opening of our first sculpture garden on October 1, 2010. The City Hall Sculpture Garden features six pedestals to display a rotating collection.

Every month the Milwaukie Arts Committee hosts an art show of a particular theme in City Hall and kicks off the showing with an Artist Reception from 5 to 7 p.m. during the First Friday events in Downtown Milwaukie.
